For the second part of our trip, we decided we wanted to go to the city that never sleeps, New York! We had both been in New York before, but always in the summer and had never been there together. So we made the city our home as soon as we got there, and continued celebrating our year together in the most wonderful ways.
On our fist day there we hurried into Le Pain Quotidien for one thing and one thing only: avo toast!!! I had this twice and it was soooo good! Afterwards we took pictures by the Flatiron Building, walked around Madison Square Park, had dinner at Eataly and then headed to a NeedtoBreathe concert.
The next day we walked around Central Park for hours to admire the general fall splendor, went to Tiffany's to get our wedding bands cleaned (I pretended to be Holly Golightly there, for a minute), and then went to a Capital Cities concert which ended up being one of our favorite parts of the whole trip.
The next few pictures are from our last full day in New York. We went to brunch in the West Village at Bluestone Lane Collective Cafe , which was delicious and the surroundings so beautiful. We then walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, which was no small feat for me! Im glad J pushed me to do it. For dinner, we made a reservation at North End Grill, and had a glorious meal. However, I forgot to bring and use my camera for most of the last part of our trip, and I feel terrible about not having more pictures. Still, I will always have this blog to remember our wonderful 1st year anniversary celebration!
New York is always life changing, in my experience. Its always so different, and yet always leaves me with the same inspiring feeling. The tall buildings, the sounds of a subway train fast approaching, the Uber rides shared with complete strangers, the smell of beer at bars, the crazy people, the variety of food... As I walked through the busy streets, I had the LCD Soundsystem song "New York, I Love you But You're Bringing Me Down" playing inside my head like a soundtrack. Go check out the video, which always makes me smile :) Wait until the 4:12 minute mark to see Mr. James Murphy himself! Anyways...
Im so grateful I got to experience this city with my hubby. Till we see you again, New York!
