The whole reason for this trip was to celebrate my husband's 30th birthday! We spent 6 days in Playa del Carmen walking on the beach, sun bathing and trying to brave the pool's and ocean's cold cold water. The hotel we stayed in was just heavenly, with little cabanas by the pool to sleep in, various restaurants, buffets and bars to choose from, really inviting you to just stay and relax all day. Sometimes it was even hard to leave the comfort of our own room!
The next few pictures are of the day we spent at Xel-há. What started off as a grey, cloudy, rainy day ended up being one of the greatest day in the whole trip!
Xel-há is a natural aquarium, so we spent the whole day in the water. We started the day by heading down the river on a tube, which was a magical experience. I wish I had pictures of the mangroves to show how enchanting the river felt!
We snorkled on the clear blue water for 2 to 3 hours and saw a pretty variety of fish and also 3 sting rays! We then crossed the floating bridge, visited the cenotes and went swimming inside the Mayan cave, which was our favorite activity.
When we took this picture we were both exhausted! But so happy :)
Just look at how clear the water is!!!
Xel-há made me feel so alive and energized! As always, I was hesitant to go at first but J always ends up convincing me and pushing me to overcome my fear of doing new things. Im so so grateful.
We had so much fun on this trip! I think it has a lot to do with the hotel and how comfortable and well thought out it all is. Also, a white sandy beach at your disposal that's just a few steps away always makes a difference :) So long, Mexico!
